I was recently in New Orleans for a teachers conference, and I had the chance to take a “few” photos while I was there. I hope you enjoy them!

We visited St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Above is a statue of Padre Pio.

In New Orleans, instead of traditional graves, you will find above-ground tombs holding the remains of several family members.
We visited the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden in City Park, where I photographed this beautiful Spanish moss.
There were a lot of interesting sculptures in the park, such as the one above.
My favorite thing to photograph was St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square.
The cathedral is pictured here with a statue of Andrew Jackson.
At Jackson Square, mule drawn carriages are waiting to take you on a ride.
This was my favorite shot of the cathedral, looking down at all the mule drawn carriages.
The steamboat Natchez sits on the Mississippi River.
The Crescent City Connection crosses the Mississippi.

Dooky Chase’s is a must-do while in New Orleans. The chef, Leah Chase, was the inspiration for Princess Tiana in the Princess and the Frog.
I had the Creole shrimp!
A local band played at the House of Blues. There is no shortage of music in the Crescent City!
Fleur de lys lights hang from a tree. The fleur de lys, adopted by New Orleans, is the symbol of French royalty.
Café du Monde is where you’ve gotta go for beignets and coffee.
And boy were those beignets good!

The hurricane is New Orleans’ signature cocktail.

I got up early to catch this sunrise on the Mississippi River.
