This is my twelfth post in my Horse Sense series, where I showcase my equine photography. Click here to read my previous posts. In this post I will share some recent photos I took at Old Friends at Cabin Creek in Greenfield, NY, where I volunteer, and The Horsey Hostess, in Saratoga Springs, where I take riding lessons.
Let’s start with Old Friends. I took the above photo of Watchem Smokey at his pal Zippy Chippy’s 30th Birthday Party at the farm. I only had my phone with me, so I tried Photoshop’s new depth blur tool to create background separation. It’s kind of like portrait mode for desktop.
Here’s Smokey doing his signature head bob. Another test subject for the depth blur.
I took this photo of the farm on my phone on a day I was there to give tours. Can you spot Mr. Cowboy?
Pictured above is the ever handsome King Congie. Click here to order a print of this photo. I donate 100% of my profit from prints of Old Friends at Cabin Creek horses to the farm.
This handsome fella is Naughty New Yorker, the farm’s newest resident. Click here to order a print of this photo.
Here’s another shot of Naughty New Yorker, a.k.a Vito. Click here to order a print of this photo.
Here is Oscar at Th Horsey Hostess doing some liberty work.
Here’s Rocky posing for me.
Two in one shot!
I was only using one lens, a 50mm, so a few shots ended up wider than I would have liked. Luckily, the 5D Mark IV’s excellent 30 megapixel resolution paired with Photoshop’s new superzoom neural filter allowed me to crop without much loss in image quality.
Look at Rocky’s mane as he trots!
Oscar in monochrome.
A portrait of Oscar.
This one may be my favorite.
Up close and personal with Rocky’s eye.
Another Rocky portrait.
Oscar from a distance.
One more of Oscar trotting.
Oscar and Rocky in the barn. Not pictured is Cas, who is equally handsome, but just not a part of the groundwork activities that day.
