Now that it’s September and school starts tomorrow for us teachers, summer may not be officially over, but it might as well be. Looking back on the many photos I took in Saratoga this summer, I noticed I had a lot that never made it into any of my blog posts. I only went to the track once this season, and for once I didn’t take any pictures. You can always check out my NYRA-tagged posts for photos I took in previous years, though. The photos I took in Oregon and Washington are in my PNW-tagged posts.
On July 4th, I photographed the fireworks at Saratoga Lake for the first time. The sunset made the water look pink!
At blue hour, the lights from the boats on the lake made for a really colorful photo.
While everyone was looking up at the fireworks close by, I grabbed a few shots of the fireworks being set off across the lake. I actually like this shot better!
I did manage to get a few shots of the closer fireworks, this one being my favorite. I was disappointed that you couldn’t see them reflected in the water though.
It’s rare for me to find a view I haven’t seen this summer, but I captured this photo looking up Spring St. towards Broadway when I was downtown with my friend Barb.
A little later in the summer, I went to the Saratoga Spa State Park to photograph the appearance of the Budweiser Clydesdales.
Heading out of town, Barb and I went to the Christman Sanctuary near schenectady for some flowy water photos.
Above is Bozen Kill falls. Not a very large falls, but it’s still pretty.
This lean-to looks like a little cabin in the woods!
Heading up north, my friend Michele and I hiked up to the Pinnacle in Bolton Landing, which gives this beautiful view of Lake George.
Looking down on the lake, you can see the Sagamore Resort in this photo.
Speaking of the Sagamore, Michele and I went there too and had breakfast. I love the panoramic view of the resort and Lake George!
The Mohican went by while we were there.
Ah, the fresh blue waters of lake George!
The Sagamore’s cupola makes for a great photo.
Back down south, Barb and I attended Enchanted City Troy, a steampunk festival. In addition to humans, I got some photos of dogs and reptiles.
This man was sitting on a street sweeping contraption. The aviator glasses are a staple of steampunk festivals.
These ladies were called Vixens en Garde, sword fighting damsels from medieval England.
A talented accordionist provides entertainment for festival goers.
A beautiful costume and headpiece!
I love the Mad Hatter costume and makeup.
Barb spotted this great view of the RPI campus from the parking garage.
Another great Barb find was Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. There were several old chapels there that were beautiful to photograph.
The Gardner Earl Chapel, above and below, was the most impressive.
Well, that rounds out my summer photos…happy fall…let the leaf-peeping season begin!
