As I pore through my old photos and upload them to my portfolio, there are always a few that stand out. These are the photos that I took before I ever bought my first DSLR, that still to this day remain some of my favorites. All the photos in this post were taken with either a point and shoot (small sensor, fixed lens) camera or an automatic film camera with cheap film. I will note that almost all of them have been reprocessed recently to bring out the best of them, and many of them were shot using HDR to compensate for the poor dynamic range of consumer cameras. For the night shots, a small tripod was used (handheld nigh shots with a point and shoot? Not a pretty picture). None of these cameras were capable of shooting RAW natively. That being said, I think this post serves as a testament to the fact that good photos can be taken with minimal gear.
