Over Columbus Day Weekend, I took a day trip to Manchester, VT. The fall colors were just about at peak, and I grabbed some shots of the mountains along the way.
A quick stop at the Equinox Valley Nursery allowed me to photograph their whimsical Halloween displays.
They even had turtles swimming around in a koi pond!
Next stop was the Equinox Resort for breakfast. The beautiful grounds and yummy buffet make this a favorite of mine.
The photographic highlight of the day was Hildene, Robert Todd Lincoln’s home in the early twentieth century. Do you see that box outlined in the lawn above? The plaque in the middle states that that was the area that Abraham Lincoln’s childhood home covered.
Since photography wasn’t allowed inside the house, we’ll skip right to the gardens.
The gardens were simply gorgeous with the mountains in the background, and the light was just perfect for photos.
It was just a short walk in the woods to the Pullman Car. Robert Todd Lincoln worked as Chairman of Pullman for a number of years.
The Pullman car was open to explore. I pulled out the fisheye to take advantage of the tight space.
Next it was onto the farm. The farm had no shortage of goats!
This brawl was quite a sight to see in person!
On the way back, I grabbed a few shots in Arlington as the sun set.
Manchester, I never stay away too long!
