Last summer I traveled to Washington State and explored Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Parks. Click here to read my last post about the trip, where I shared photos of Mt. Rainier National Park. In this post, I will share photos I took in the northern Olympic National Park area.
The “Tree of Life” is a tree root cave located on the beach near the Kalaloch Lodge. It draws visitors from near and far who flock to see its exposed roots. Click here to order a print of this photo.
Much of Olympic National Park backs up to the Pacific Ocean, so you can incorporate a walk along the beach into your trip. Click here to order a print of this photo.
I don’t usually post hotel room photos on this blog, but the Hurricane Ridge Suite at Domaine Madeleine in Port Angeles was too impressive not to share. I have been very fortunate to stay in some pretty posh lodging, but Domaine Madeleine really rose to the top even still. If you want to feel pampered (and enjoy a stunning view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca), you must stay here (full disclosure: I receive no compensation for anything I write on this blog). While the buildings themselves were rather unassuming from the outside, the room was beautifully appointed and no luxury was forgotten. I loved the mural over the bed!
A Norwegian Spirit cruise ship passes through the Strait of Juan de Fuca at sunset.
There are beautiful flowers on the grounds of Domaine Madeleine.
It’s hard to imagine seeing this much snow in July, but this was the scene at Hurricane Ridge! Click here to order a print of this photo.
Snow appeared at various spots along the Cirque Rim Trail
“On a clear day, you can see forever”…or at least to Canada. Pictured here is the city of Victoria, British Columbia. Click here to order a print of this photo.
The Lake Crescent Lodge is a nice place to stay or grab a bite to eat in the park.
The lobby definitely lives up to the “lodge” name.
Guests and visitors can enjoy a bite to eat on the porch overlooking the lake.
Crescent Lake is a nice spot to stop and enjoy nature. Click here to order a print of this photo.

I love a good waterfall, and Madison Creek Falls did not disappoint. It was small but beautiful. Click here to order a print of this photo.
The waterfall looks even more gorgeous close up. This became one of my favorite photos of 2022. Click here to order a print of this photo.
At Domaine Madeleine, you can stand by the edge of a cliff and look across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to British Columbia.
Near Domaine Madeleine, I photographed these poppies on a lavender farm.
There are actually several lavender farms in Port Angeles, but I didn’t visit any of them except to take this photo.
A cloudy night looking across the strait.
Here’s the view from the balcony of the Hurricane Ridge Suite. Click here to order a print of this photo.
I took this photo of the sky over the suite at night.
I woke up on the penultimate morning to a stunning sunrise which I captured right from the balcony!
