The 2024 Sale Season at Saratoga

It wouldn’t be a summer at the Spa without the sales at Fasig-Tipton, and in this post I’ll share some of my favorite photos from both the Saratoga Select Sale and the New York Bred Yearlings Sale. I also have some baby pics of some of the New York bred yearlings, so read on for cuteness overload! Click here to read my previous Fasig-Tipton posts.


First up is the Saratoga Select Sale, one of the country’s most prestigious yearling sales.

Willie the dog keeps a watch over things at Nardelli sales.


This Not This Time colt out of Kayce Ace, consigned by Nardelli Sales, sold for $3.4 million at the first night of the sale and was the sale topper.


This Gun Runner colt out of Secret Sigh sold for $1.9 million.


There is no shortage of dogs at the sales.


Former rodeo cowboy Billy Love of Love’s Equine poses with a Yaupon filly out of Belle Gallantey. The filly did not sell.


Amy Molina of C&S Thoroughbreds gives a kiss to a Practical Joke colt out of In My Time. The colt sold for $185,000.


This Charlatan filly out of Swingit, consigned by Denali Stud, gets some love before being shown to a prospective buyer. Sadly, this filly is the final foal for her dam, who passed away shortly after giving birth to her. She sold for $630,000.


This Into Mischief colt out of Road to Victory sold for $700,000.


A Good Magic colt out of Auntie Martha gets groomed before being shown. The colt sold for $850,000.


A crowd gathered at Taylor Made to watch marathon specialist Next run away with the Birdstone Stakes for the second year in a row.


This Charlatan filly out of Compensate sold for $150,000.


This Justify colt out of Mahkama sold for $250,000.


Northview Stallion Station had homemade ice cream!


This Curlin filly out of Temptress sold for $800,000.


This little guy is tuckered out from previewing yearlings all day!

The first yearling of night two of the sale, a Medaglia d’Oro filly out of Princess Julia, sold for $975,000.


This Oscar Performance filly out of Shop Again sold for $500,000.


This Street Sense filly out of Simply Sunny sold for $575,000.


This Yaupon filly out of Stormbeforethecalm sold for $275,000.


This Justify colt out of Dolce Lemone sold for $1 million.


Now let’s move onto the New York Bred Yearlings Sale.

Then and now! This Independence Hall colt out of Seascape, the first foal for his sire, was born at Mahoney Eden Manor in Saratoga. The colt sold for $25,000.


This Munnings colt out of C’est La Vie, also born at Mahoney Eden Manor, sold for $150,000.


This Yaupon filly out of Overheated, yet another Mahoney Eden Manor graduate, sold for $190,000. In the first photo, she is only seconds old.


This War Front filly out of Goodyearforroses, yet again born at Mahoney Eden Manor, sold for $10,000.


This Street Sense colt out of To the Moon Alice sold for $120,000.


This Liam’s Map colt out of Final Escrow sold for $220,000.


This Tiz the Law filly out of Freudie Anne sold for $125,000.


This Improbable filly out of Golden Mystery sold for $55,000.


A crowd gathered outside during the second day of the sale.


Now, the fun part is watching for these babies out on the track next year and seeing what they accomplish!
