Visiting Rockridge Stud

Chewing Gum (Candy Ride – Shared Heart, by Forestry) is new for 2025.

I recently attended a stallion show at Rockridge Stud in Hudson, NY. The farm stands seven stallions, each with something unique to offer. In this post, I’ll share some photos of each stallion as well as some mares and foals.

Broodmare Strange Magic stands in the snow.

Chewing Gum (Candy Ride – Shared Heart, by Forestry) is new for 2025. On the track, he won five races, including the Grade II Joe Hernandez Stakes at Santa Anita in 2022. He’s the only son of Candy Ride standing in New York, and interestingly, he won on dirt, turf, and synthetic surfaces.

Disco Partner (Disco Rico – Lulu’s Number, by Numerous) reminds me so much of Be Bullish at Old Friends at Cabin Creek. The former Christophe Clément trainee won six stakes, two of them graded. He is the only son of Disco Rico at stud.

Grade I winner Americanrevolution (Constitution – Polly Freeze, by Super Saver) was the most popular New York stallion of 2024. The former Todd Pletcher trainee won four stakes races, including the Grade I Cigar Mile Handicap in 2021. His first crop is arriving this year.

Americanrevolution’s first New York bred foal was born at Rockridge, to the Street Cry mare Judge Lee.

This filly out of the Outwork mare Out First is another foal from Americanrevolution’s first crop.

Messier (Empire Maker – Checkered Past, by Smart Strike) is another new stallion for 2025. The Kentucky Derby alum won three graded stakes and is the only son of Empire Maker standing in New York.

Slumber (Cacique – Sound Asleep, by Woodman) is a Grade I winner of over $1.4 million on the track. Among his most notable progeny are Grade I winner Fluffy Socks, Grade I winning steeplechase horse Jimmy P, and graded stakes winner Sy Dog.

This colt out of the Macho Uno mare Reason to Smile is from Slumber’s 2025 crop.

This filly by the Miracle Man mare Hatta’s Appeal is another foal from Slumber’s 2025 crop.

Mind Control (Stay Thirsty – Feel That Fire, by Lightnin N Thunder) is a multiple Grade I winner of over $2 million on the track. His first crop are yearlings this year.

War Dancer (War Front – Deed I Do, by Alydeed) is a multiple graded stakes winner of over $1 million. He was the leading turf sire in the northeast in 2022-2024.
