While there is no training at Saratoga in the winter, it’s still a beautiful time to take photos at the track. In this post, I will share my favorite photos I took at the Spa in late 2025 and early 2026.

The sign on the gate leading into the Oklahoma Track reminds us that horses are long gone this time of year.

The Spa is a little bit lonelier at this time of year, but in the blink of an eye, lots of horses will be running around this track again.

Two festive trees flank the entrance sign on Christmas.

The barn of trainer Kenny McPeek is covered in a blanket of snow. Just a few months prior, these stalls had been filled with such greats as 2024 Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna and 2024 Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan.

Snow falls fast on the Oklahoma Track.

The barn of Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey can be seen in the background of this photo.

This photo of the snow falling down hard is one of my favorites from 2025.

On a snowy day in Saratoga, I walked around the outside of the Oklahoma Track and the main track.

The Whitney Viewing Stand looked so pretty covered in snow.

Snow falls steadily in this photo looking towards some of the barns at the Oklahoma Track.

Say Union and East to any racing fan, and they’ll know which track you’re referring to.

The entrance sign informs us of when racing will resume at the Spa.

The brick pillars give a sense of place to a snowy wonderland.

It looks like they were doing some work outside the entrance.

Saratoga’s trees are part of what make it so beautiful and inviting.

The quarter pole at the far turn of the main track stands out amongst the white snow.

I love when the grandstand is covered in a blanket of snow. It’s a stark contrast from how it looks in the summer.

A peek over the rail at the backstretch of the main track.

Let the countdown to summer begin!
