Summer 2021 in Upstate NY

Well, of course summer isn’t technically over yet, but with the start of the new school year and the leaves even starting to turn, it sure feels like it is. In this post I’m going to share some of the photos I took this summer in and around my hometown of Saratoga Springs, NY. I’ve already shared my photos from a day at the races, early morning at the main track as well as the Oklahoma training track, an evening to support thoroughbred aftercare, and a very special birthday party, all of which occurred in Saratoga, and I also have some photos of the horses at Old Friends at Cabin Creek where I volunteer to share in a subsequent post, so this post will pick up the rest.

Officer Barrett and Apollo are regular fixtures of Saratoga.
While spending an afternoon with colleagues in Glens Falls earlier this summer, I took this photo on Glen St.
The Methodist Church in Glens Falls is beautiful.
I took this photo of the Adelphi Hotel in Saratoga, and incidentally, the three previous photos, with my iPhone.

I visited Mill Creek Farm in Stillwater, a thoroughbred breeding facility, in August.

A close up portrait of one of Killybeg’s Captain in his stall. I actually edited out the bars, but you can see the reflection in his eye.

My grandmother pets Killybeg’s Captain.
One of the horses walks over towards me.

I took this photo of Anne’s Washington Inn in Saratoga at an event I attended.
I took this photo of a colleague’s dog enjoying some live music at a party on Loon Lake in Chestertown.

Every now and then I discover a new place to photograph in or around Saratoga that I’ve never visited before. I recently visited Hovey Pond Park in Queensbury, which turned out to be a pleasant, peaceful spot.

I love the willow tree and the lily pads in the water.
It wouldn’t be the Adirondacks without Adirondack chairs!
You can see across the pond a dock where people like to fish.
The lily pads in the water reminded me of Monet’s gardens in Giverny, France.
I took this photo on a dreary evening at Moreau Lake State Park in Gansevoort.
A look across the lake to the bathhouse.
I met my colleague’s adorable German Shepherd puppies on Friday!
That sweet face!
And of course, I took plenty of photos of my cat Fran this summer, but I’ll just share a couple of my favorites here.
Blending in with her surroundings!
I started off the school year in my classroom with some new posters I designed, some of which you can see in this photo (above the windows).
