Decorations – Focus on the Details
Look around the house for inspiration for photos!  Isolate figurines and ornaments from their background with a fast lens.  Getting the Christmas tree in the background is a definite plus!

Store Surprises
Stores have lots of little surprises to photograph during the holiday season.  Don’t forget your camera at home when you go out shopping!  Be respectful, though.  Make sure the store allows photography, and avoid using a flash, as it can be distracting to shoppers.

Food Preparation
While taking photos of food once it’s ready to eat is pretty customary, taking the behind the scenes photos of it being prepared can tell a nice story.  You might consider putting them in a montage, like the one I made below.

Reflections
Catching Christmas tree lights or other holiday lights in the window adds a nice element to your scene.
