Back in September, I had the opportunity to photograph ACTT Naturally’s Hearts in Harmony program at Long Shadows Farm in Cambridge, NY. ACTT Naturally stands for Aftercare Continued Thoroughbred Training…Naturally, and founder Valerie Buck uses off the track thoroughbreds to create a special bond with humans through natural horsemanship. It was truly beautiful to witness. In this post I’ll share some of the photos I took that day.
Three Lions aka Budder takes a jog around the arena.
Traffic Chief gets a jog in as well.
Budder gets a pet.
Pets for Traffic Chief.
Fuhrious Warrior gets groomed.
Participants give Budder some love.
Valerie gives Budder a pet as she explains natural horsemanship.

Fuhrious Warrior walks on a lead line.
Lots of pets for Budder.

Budder jogs around the round pen.
Hearts in Harmony truly typifies what it means for horses and humans to bond.
This is one of my favorite photos from the day.
Budder is guided around the round pen off lead.
There many types of second careers that a thoroughbred can have after coming off the track, and this is just one of them.
I am grateful to Valerie for inviting me to come photograph this program and to the participants for allowing me to document this experience.
