I recently had a chance to tour some of the Gilded Age mansions of Newport, RI. In this post, I will share some of my favorites of the many photos I took of them.
The Breakers is the crème de la crème of the Newport mansions, the summer home of the Vanderbilts. It has this intricate gate out front.

This building is actually part of Salve Regina University, but it looks like a French château.
This building is Chateau-sur-Mer. I didn’t have a chance to tour this building, but I took a few photos on the grounds.
Chateau-sur-Mer has this crazy tree on the grounds that almost swallows you up with its branches!
This building, which reminds me of Versailles, is Rosecliff, built for Tessie Oehlrichs.
There were so many butterflies outside Rosecliff.
I love the intricate carvings in the salon.

This building is Marble House, built for Alva Vanderbilt.

I took some photos of the water as the sunset was approaching. This is the Claiborne Pell Bridge.
