I’ve returned from a spectacular trip across the American Southwest with visits to Arches, Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon. I came back with more photos than I’ve ever taken on a single trip. To start out this series of posts, I’ll share with you photos I took at Arches National Park, which seems to bear a striking resemblance to Mars.
Everywhere you look, there’s a beautiful vista at Arches.
As you travel along the scenic road, you can see lots of hoodoos.

Behind the Arches are the La Sal Mountains.
Delicate Arch is the most famous of the Arches. Although I didn’t make the trek to see it up close, my telephoto lens allowed me to get a nice close up shot nonetheless.
In Moab, I took this night shot outside the Fairfield Inn.
The next morning, I filled my memory card with sunrise shots at the park.
I just love a good sunburst!
The North Window is a great place to sit, meditate, and enjoy nature!

Double Arch was one of my favorites to photograph.
Wolfe Cabin belonged to a man and his son from Ohio who moved out to Utah for the better air quality.
Near the cabin are a series of petroglyphs.
Near Arches is Dead Horse Point State Park, where you can look out over the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park.
Along Potash Rd, you can see more interesting rock formations.
