Last summer I took a trip through New England. Previously I have shared photos of my visits to Salem and Gloucester in Massacussetts, a sunset cruise through the Mt. Desert Narrows of MaineBar Harbor, MaineAcadia National Park, and finally Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth, NH. In this post I will share more photos I took in Portsmouth as well as neighboring New Castle, NH.

Kate’s Bakery and Café is located on Badger Island, part of Kittery, ME, just across the river from Portsmouth, which can be seen in the background on the left.

I took this photo crossing the Memorial Bridge, which spans the Piscataqua River, entering into Portsmouth from Maine. Click here to order a print of this photo.

The Portsmouth Memorial Park features bricks with names of local veterans.

Portsmouth has a lively downtown.

The marina is full of boats. Click here to order a print of this photo.

The beautiful Wentworth by the Sea hotel is located just outside Portsmouth in New Castle.

One of the beautiful rooms inside the Wentworth by the Sea.

A view from the window looks out onto the gardens.

Across the water, a neighboring property can be seen from the hotel.

I ordered the lobster bisque at Salt restaurant, and wouldn’t you know, there was an S in it!

There is a rotunda with a beautiful ceiling at Salt.

A peek at the lobby.

The hotel has a beautiful garden.

A view of the hotel from under the portico.

A walk across the street afforded this view of the Piscataqua River. Click here to order a print of this photo.

The beautiful gardens outside the hotel with colorful hydrangeas.

Another view of the hotel.

The beautiful pool room. Too bad the hot tub wasn’t hot, though.

I couldn’t resist photographing the hotel at night.

The Trial Gardens at Portsmouth’s Prescott Park have some gorgeous flowers. Click here to order a print of this photo.
