Arizona Excursion Part III: Perusing Prescott

In previous blog posts I shared photos I took at Rancho de los Caballeros in Wickenburg, AZ and photos of the horses of Rancho de los Caballeros. In this post, I will share photos I took in the small historic town of Prescott, AZ (pronounced PRESK-it).

One of the main draws in Prescott is the Sharlot Hall Museum, home to a number of buildings that tell Arizona’s state and territorial history.

This log cabin, though not very large, is called the first territorial governor’s mansion.

Inside the mansion, a table is set.

A peek inside the bedroom.

The Sharlot Hall building was once home to Sharlot Hall herself, an Arizona historian.

Fort Misery is Arizona’s oldest log cabin.

The school house was my favorite, because, as a teacher, I love to imagine what my job would have been like in centuries past.

The blacksmith shop.

The mercantile.

The print shop.

The ranch house embodies a typical log cabin home.

Another angle on the ranch house.

The inside of the ranch house.

The John C. Frémont House served at one time as the Governor’s Mansion.

A bedroom inside the Frémont House.

The kitchen.

I took out my fisheye lens for this bedroom shot.

The Bashford House, which dates back to 1877, is today the Museum Store.

Another draw of Prescott is Whiskey Row, a block of saloons that dates back to the gold rush era.

The Palace Saloon, which dates back to 1877, is the oldest business in Arizona. Famous patrons in its heyday included Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday.

I photographed these trees by the shore of Watson Lake.
